SLATE
Slate is formed during volcanic activity when superheated clay deposits are mixed with ash and eventually dries in layers. Slate has a distinctive cleft appearance. This is a siliceous stone and highly resistant to the acids found in lemons, alcohol, and cleaning products. Slates characteristic weathering gives the natural stone a charming aged look. The mottled colors of slate are rustic and earthy dark tones which vary from reds, turquoise greenish blues, as well as softer grays and deep solid blacks. A sealer is recommended for all natural stone applications.
